Basketball Recap: Whitmire Takes a Loss

After soaring to 75 points the game before, Whitmire was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They were outmatched by the Dixie Hornets and fell 68-22. The Wolverines were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-6.

Despite the loss, Whitmire still got an impressive performance from Trystan Samples, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Samples a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Babb, who had seven points.

Leading Dixie to victory were Jaylia Turner and Kerrie O'Shields. Turner put up 18 points and five steals, while O'Shields earned 20 points along with six boards and six steals. O'Shields is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played. LaNya Dotson was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Whitmire's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Dixie, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.

Whitmire has already played their next matchup, a 40-32 victory against GREEN Upstate on the 31st. As for Dixie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-34 win against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind on the 30th.
