Baseball Recap: East Rowan Triumphs

East Rowan took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against West Rowan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Falcons on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 6th.

Harrison Ailshie made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ailshie was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Charlie Lefler looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Ailshie wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Osterhus, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

East Rowan's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for West Rowan, they dropped their record down to 11-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

East Rowan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
