Basketball Recap: University Laboratory School Takes a Loss

University Laboratory School played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Hanalani Royals and fell 72-11. The Junior Rainbows were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Hanalani got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ellana Klemp out in front who went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals. With that strong performance, Klemp is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Piha Akiona, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 11 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

University Laboratory School's defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hanalani, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

University Laboratory School will square off against Mid-Pacific Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. University Laboratory School is facing Mid-Pacific Institute at the right time seeing as Mid-Pacific Institute is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hanalani, they will face off against Kamehameha Kapalama at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
