It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lewis Cass ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Maconaquah Braves 56-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Kings have posted against the Braves since January 31, 2020.

Despite the loss, Maconaquah saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Gochenour shot 54% from the field to rack up 27 points and six boards. That was a full 50% of the Braves' points, marking the third time in a row Gochenour has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Levi Merritt, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

Lewis Cass is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points over those games. As for Maconaquah, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Lewis Cass wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-40 loss against Kokomo on the 31st. As for Maconaquah, they will take on Western at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
