Baseball Recap: Faith Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Faith Christian had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Central of Coosa County Cougars 8-1 on Monday. The Lions not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th.

Jayden Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Faith Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-15 otherwise. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Reese, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Faith Christian is 4-2 when Reese posts two or more runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Levi Wells was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Faith Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Central of Coosa County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Faith Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central of Coosa County, they will challenge Comer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
