Football Recap: Wheeling Central Catholic Starts Season with Victory Against Union Local + How To Watch

Wheeling Central Catholic gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They snuck past the Union Local Jets with a 25-19 win. Given the Maroon Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in West Virginia, while the Jets are ranked 296th in Ohio) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kade Koroneos went supernova, picking up 120 receiving yards and six scores, while also rushing for 68 yards and six touchdowns. Those six rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Wheeling Central Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joey Hall and Max Olejasz.

Union Local's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeling Central Catholic will face off against Fort Frye at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union Local, they will take on Indian Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
