Football Recap: Wheeling Central Catholic Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Wheeling Central Catholic gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They snuck past the Union Local Jets with a 25-19 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Maroon Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in West Virginia, while the Jets are ranked 318th in Ohio).

Kade Koroneos had an outrageously good game as he picked up 120 receiving yards and six touchdowns, and also rushed for 68 yards and six scores. Those six rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Wheeling Central Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joey Hall and Max Olejasz.

Union Local's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Wheeling Central Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 40-0 defeat against Fort Frye on the 5th. As for Union Local, they have also already played their next game, a 23-15 loss against Indian Creek on the 5th.
