Baseball Recap: Weslaco Comes Up Short

Weslaco managed to slip by La Joya the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers lost 12-2 to the Coyotes on Friday.

Weslaco saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Ramirez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Weslaco has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11-1 record this season. As for La Joya, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Weslaco and La Joya should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 426th) will meet Edinburg North (ranked 1139th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, La Joya will square off against Edinburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (89 vs. 717).
