Softball Recap: Springtown Wins Going Away Against Bridgeport

Springtown won the last time they faced Bridgeport and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Porcupines were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Bulls. The result was nothing new for the Porcupines, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Spray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Fagan was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Morris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Springtown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bridgeport only posted a batting average of .269.

The win made it two in a row for Springtown and bumps their season record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Bridgeport, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Springtown will challenge rival Castleberry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bridgeport is set to take on their familiar foe Burkburnett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
