Basketball Recap: Newman Grove/St. Edward Comes Up Short

Newman Grove/St. Edward played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 54-26 loss at the hands of the Archangels Catholic Defenders. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Defeat or not, Newman Grove/St. Edward got some senior leadership from Marcos Paez and Anthony Reader. Paez posted nine points, while Reader put up ten points.

Newman Grove/St. Edward has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Archangels Catholic, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Newman Grove/St. Edward will face off against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Archangels Catholic, they will challenge Norfolk Catholic at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Norfolk Catholic will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Archangels Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
