Softball Game Preview: Bottineau Braves/Stars vs. Turtle Mountain Braves

The Bottineau Braves/Stars will head out on the road to square off against the Turtle Mountain Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Bottineau will be strutting in after a victory while Turtle Mountain will be coming in after a loss.

Bottineau's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Rugby 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves/Stars.

Kaia Hennings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Lydia LaFromboise was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Camryn Tweed, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Turtle Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Dickinson, falling 26-0.

Bottineau's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Turtle Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Bottineau took their win against Turtle Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves/Stars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
