Recap: Spring Valley Grizzlies vs. Foothill Falcons
The Spring Valley Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 62-47 to Foothill. While losing is never fun, Spring Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Foothill is ranked fifth).
When it comes to explaining why Spring Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alijah Adem. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Adem has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamo Mccall, who scored ten points.
Zak Abdalla continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Foothill, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Abdalla has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Natale jr, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Spring Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Foothill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-9.
Spring Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Foothill will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bishop Gorman at 6:30 p.m. on February 16th. One thing working in Bishop Gorman's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 matches.
