Basketball Recap: Thurgood Marshall Academy Takes a Loss

Thurgood Marshall Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Friendship Tech Prep Academy Titans 87-8. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Titans are ranked third).

Friendship Tech Prep Academy was led to victory by Daniel Bumpass and Malik Shackleford. Bumpass dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists, while Shackleford posted 23 points and three steals. What's more, Bumpass also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Aidan Haskins was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Thurgood Marshall Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Thurgood Marshall Academy will welcome Parkside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friendship Tech Prep Academy has already played their next contest (against KIPP College Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
