Basketball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial lost against Mater Dei back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Centennial Huskies were dealt an 83-30 loss at the hands of the Mater Dei Monarchs. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Monarchs are ranked third).

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Mater Dei, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will venture away from home to face off against Santiago at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Santiago's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Mater Dei, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Santa Margarita at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
