Softball Recap: Davenport's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Davenport had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Somerset Bulldogs. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won five games in a row.

Harper Mcquade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, KINLEY Keller and JORDYN Altmeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Keller got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Altmeyer went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Kennedy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Davenport pushed their record up to 21-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Somerset, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-13.

Davenport will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
