League recap: Crofton wins, gets boost in standings

C2 District 6 recap October 8, 2013

Crofton was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in C2 District 6. The Warriors vanquished Homer 63-26 earlier in the week.

Lutheran-Northeast added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cedar Catholic, 34-12. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Jeff Judge was a key player and the best on defense this week as West Holt lost to Battle Creek. The 5-foot-8 junior grabbed 1 interception.

Nate Gray provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Braves defeated the Huskies. Gray's favorite target this week was Jared Bellar, who caught 2 passes for 22 yards.

Josiah McAllister was the best receiver in the league this week as West Holt lost to Battle Creek. McAllister racked up 1 reception for 34 yards. Dillon Larby helped West Holt's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 19 yards.

Steve Neptune's team's Connor Osborne and McAllister have formed a dream team this season, leading C2 District 6 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Osborne has thrown for 487 yards this season, while McAllister has 4 catches for 144 yards. Gray from Andrew Carlson's team leads the league in rushing with 827 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lutheran-Northeast takes on Crofton. Darin Suckstorf's team is in first place, while Tony Hoffman's team is in third place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Braves take on the Trojans. Battle Creek has allowed 48 points this season, while Cedar Catholic has given up 69. The Braves allowed 7 points last week as they defeated the Huskies.

The Warriors took down the Knights 63-26 last week, the largest margin of any game.
