Baseball Game Preview: Stringer Red Devils vs. Taylorsville Tartars

The Stringer Red Devils will challenge the Taylorsville Tartars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stringer has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Stringer is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Seminary just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 12-7 to the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Taylorsville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Pisgah 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tartars have posted since March 11th.

Trey Barnes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Brady Quinn was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Taylorsville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Stringer, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Stringer suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Taylorsville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
