Basketball Recap: East Columbus Piles Up the Points Against Heide Trask

East Columbus entered their tilt with Heide Trask on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 58-17 victory over the Heide Trask Titans. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

Leading East Columbus to victory were Malia Graham and Malayah Hines. Graham dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, while Hines went 9 for 18 on her way to 21 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hines has scored at least a third of East Columbus' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Graham, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

East Columbus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 39 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

East Columbus has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Heide Trask, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Coincidentally, East Columbus and Heide Trask will both be playing West Columbus the next time they take the court. East Columbus will host West Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Heide Trask will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th.
