Volleyball Game Preview: Gateway Gators vs. Drew Dragons

Gateway is 2-8 against Drew since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Gators are taking a road trip to challenge the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Drew took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Gateway, who comes in off a win.

Gateway will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating San Francisco Waldorf, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Gators put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 3-0 win on Friday.

While Gateway won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Drew didn't have quite enough to beat Crystal Springs Uplands on Friday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Gryphons: they've now lost three in a row.

Drew wouldn't go down easily and took Crystal Springs Uplands into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 15-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-0, 0-25, 0-25, 25-0, 15-0.

Drew's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Gateway, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Gateway took their victory against Drew when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
