Basketball Recap: Brooks Skates Past Horizon Science Academy-Southwest with Ease

While Brooks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Horizon Science Academy-Southwest Huskies, posting a 71-21 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Huskies are ranked 604th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brooks was led to victory by Jacob Johnson and Malik Arogundade. Johnson made all 7 shots he took racking up 14 points and three steals, while Arogundade went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Macauri Sias, who posted eight points.

Brooks is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Horizon Science Academy-Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Brooks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Richards at 5:00 p.m. As for Horizon Science Academy-Southwest, they will head out to challenge IC Catholic Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
