The Montbello Warriors will square off against the George Washington Patriots at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Montbello will be strutting in after a win while George Washington will be coming in after a loss.
Montbello got their first taste of in-conference action on Saturday and they started things off strong. They put the hurt on Rangeview with a sharp 14-1 victory.

Nicolas Torres made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Montbello got a massive performance out of Santiago Nava, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Nava is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-11 when he doesn't). Derek Alvidrez was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four RBI and one double.
Montbello kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, George Washington was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They fell just short of Vista PEAK Prep by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
George Washington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Montbello's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for George Washington, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Montbello has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like George Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
