Preview: Veritas Christian Academy Warriors vs. Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors
Veritas Christian Academy is 8-0 against Lake Lure Classical Academy since February of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Veritas Christian Academy Warriors will play host again and welcome the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Veritas Christian Academy posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They breezed by Christian Family Academy at home to the tune of 83-49.
Veritas Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Eli Robbins, who scored 23 points, and Ashton Dillon, who scored 35 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dillon has scored at least a third of Veritas Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Guimares, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Lake Lure Classical Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 83-22 win over Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for zero points.
Lake Lure Classical Academy found their leader in underclassman Elijah Hill-Moore, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hill-Moore has scored all season.
Veritas Christian Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.33 points. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Veritas Christian Academy and Lake Lure Classical Academy are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Veritas Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 65.8 points per game. However, it's not like Lake Lure Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 58.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Veritas Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Lure Classical Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 64-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lake Lure Classical Academy's Ashawn Camp, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
