Baseball Game Preview: Garey Vikings vs. Pomona Red Devils

The Garey Vikings will head out to face off against the Pomona Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Garey is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Diamond Ranch, falling 10-3.

Jacob Loza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Pomona took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Workman a 10-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Red Devils as they're now sitting on five straight dating back to last season.

Emmanuel Campos looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Pomona got a big performance out of Victor Tlatenchi, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. Those three stolen bases gave Tlatenchi a new career-high. Nicolas Montes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Garey might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Pomona when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Garey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
