Softball Recap: Immaculate's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Immaculate waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Pomperaug Panthers 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Karina Soni was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Lugo, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two doubles, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Immaculate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Immaculate pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Pomperaug, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Immaculate didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-4 loss against Newtown on the 2nd. As for Pomperaug, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-5 victory against O'Brien RVT on the 1st.
