Canton is a perfect 10-0 against Athens since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Canton Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Athens Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Canton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Athens' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Canton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Kemp on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Rylee Busby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Chloe Howe and Kara Pride did most of the damage at the plate: Howe went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Pride scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Pride has posted since back in April of 2024. Brylee Graham also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Athens beat Mabank 16-13 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Athens pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Canton, their record is now 10-5-2.

Everything went Canton's way against Athens when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Canton made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
