Baseball Recap: Orlando Christian Prep Victorious

Orlando Christian Prep was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Holy Cross Lutheran Academy on Thursday. The Orlando Christian Prep Warriors never let the Holy Cross Lutheran Academy Crusaders get on the board and left with a 21-0 win.

Carter Reis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Schuster and Blaise Schuster did most of the damage at the plate: Brayden got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Blaise scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Blaise a new career-high. Eli Embriz was another key player, scoring four runs while going 1-for-3.

Orlando Christian Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross Lutheran Academy only posted an OBP of .077.

Orlando Christian Prep now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Holy Cross Lutheran Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orlando Christian Prep will take on Wildwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Cross Lutheran Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crooms Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 3rd.
