Softball Game Preview: Montgomery Central Indians vs. Fairview Yellowjackets

The Montgomery Central Indians will take on the Fairview Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Montgomery Central's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Fairview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Montgomery Central's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Rossview hitters got past them. The Indians lost 12-0 to the Hawks on Monday. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Fairview waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Admirals. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by just one run.

Ashlyn Corbin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Cameryn Dunn was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Abbie Hammon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Fairview lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Fairview pushed their record up to 6-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Montgomery Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Montgomery Central was able to grind out a solid win over Fairview in their previous meeting back in March, winning 10-7. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
