Basketball Recap: Damonte Ranch Piles Up the Points Against Malibu

Damonte Ranch saw some tournament action on Friday. They blew past the Malibu Sharks 77-34. That 43 point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Drew Dodson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six boards. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Thorson, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Damonte Ranch has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Malibu, they dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Damonte Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-49 defeat against South Anchorage on the 28th. As for Malibu, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fillmore at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th. Malibu is facing Fillmore at the right time seeing as Fillmore is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
