Softball Game Preview: East Carter Raiders vs. Morgan County Cougars

East Carter is a perfect 10-0 against Morgan County since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. East Carter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

East Carter's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Fairland. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Laken Knipp made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, East Carter got a massive performance out of Haleigh Hall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Allie Felty was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

East Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Morgan County can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Prestonsburg.

East Carter's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Morgan County, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

East Carter took their victory against Morgan County in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
