Soccer Recap: Xavier Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wilbur Cross on Thursday, Xavier came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the Fairfield Prep Jesuits by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Xavier came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Fairfield Prep are ranked 31st).

Xavier's defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3-3. As for Fairfield Prep, they pushed their record up to 10-4-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Xavier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fairfield Prep, they will square off against Glastonbury at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
