Basketball Game Preview: Butte Central Catholic Maroons vs. Beaverhead County Beavers

Butte Central Catholic is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since February 3, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Hamilton by a score of 62-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (57), the Maroons still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Beaverhead County waltzed into their game on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They claimed a resounding 57-25 victory over the Blue Devils. With the Beavers ahead 40-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Butte Central Catholic better keep an eye on Kyler Engellant. He was instrumental in Beaverhead County's win, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Engellant's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carter Curnow, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points.

Beaverhead County pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Butte Central Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-5.

Butte Central Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Beaverhead County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory.
