Basketball Game Preview: Waunakee Warriors vs. Watertown Goslings

The Waunakee Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Watertown Goslings at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Waunakee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Watertown likes a good challenge.

Waunakee is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 92-47 win over Fort Atkinson. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Blackhawks are ranked 251st), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Watertown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 43-37 to Beaver Dam. The Goslings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Waunakee's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Watertown, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything came up roses for Waunakee against Watertown in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 60-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waunakee since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
