Recap: Providence Pioneers vs. Silver Creek Dragons
The Providence Pioneers entered their tilt with the Silver Creek Dragons with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Providence walked away with a 50-43 victory over Silver Creek on Friday. Given Providence's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Silver Creek is ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Dragons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hayden Garten, who scored six points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brandon Hunter, who scored nine points along with five assists.
Providence's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Silver Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will face off against Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern is on a four-game streak of home wins, Providence a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Silver Creek and Eastern will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
