Baseball Recap: Maplewood Takes a Loss

Maplewood extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights, falling 19-1. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Hume-Fogg, they pushed their record up to 7-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Hume-Fogg's part, the team relied heavily on Drake Currie, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Currie has become a key player for the Blue Knights: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Aevan Sharma was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maplewood will take on Stratford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hume-Fogg, they will host Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
