Basketball Recap: Copper Canyon Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Joya Community, Copper Canyon was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Glendale Cardinals 47-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Aztecs have posted since November 27, 2024.

Despite the loss, Glendale still got an impressive performance from Michael Palomino, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Palomino has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Simon Sinohui, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points.

Copper Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Glendale, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Copper Canyon has already played their next match (against Independence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Glendale has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Washington.
