Softball Recap: St. Henry Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bellevue on Wednesday, St. Henry came back down to earth. The Crusaders lost 21-10 to the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds on Friday. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Thoroughbreds recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Sydney Nelson and Korra Zimmer did some serious damage despite the final result: Nelson went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Zimmer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Zimmer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Conley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

St. Henry's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Newport Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Looking ahead, St. Henry will challenge Ludlow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Newport Central Catholic, they will square off against Newport at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
