Baseball Game Preview: Savio Eagles vs. Antonian Prep Apaches

For the second straight game, Savio will face off against Antonian Prep. Savio will be playing in front of their home fans against Antonian Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Savio's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Antonian Prep has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Savio easily dispatched St. Andrew's on March 11th, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Savio fell just short of Antonian Prep by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Antonian Prep's part, Blake Beckmann made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. What's more, Beckmann gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Antonian Prep is 4-1 when Beckmann posts two or more runs, but 6-7-1 otherwise.

Savio's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Antonian Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8-1.
