Football Game Preview: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

Berkeley is 0-6 against Bishop O'Dowd since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will take on the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Berkeley proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 28) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against San Leandro, sneaking past 21-18.

A big part of Berkeley's victory came down to the chemistry between IDAN WADE-CURIEL and his top target DAILEN CLARK. WADE-CURIEL threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt while CLARK picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 147 receiving yards gave CLARK a new career-high. A healthy portion of WADE-CURIEL's aerial production (93 yards to be exact) also went to CALEB WRIGHT.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop O'Dowd). They came out on top against Castro Valley by a score of 54-42 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.

Berkeley's record now sits at 2-4. As for Bishop O'Dowd, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Berkeley suffered a grim 34-13 defeat to Bishop O'Dowd when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
