Basketball Recap: Sultan Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Sultan unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 67-44 to the Tonasket Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Turks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Tigers are ranked 82nd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tonasket to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kristian Jones, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. What's more, Jones also racked up six assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Tanner Tompkins, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds.

Sultan's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Tonasket, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Sultan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-44 defeat against Seattle Christian on the 27th. As for Tonasket, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-60 loss against Meridian on the 27th.
