Basketball Game Preview: LaGrange Academy vs. Flint River Academy Wildcats

LaGrange Academy will take on the Flint River Academy Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaGrange Academy will be strutting in after a win while Flint River Academy will be coming in after a loss.

LaGrange Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 51-42 victory over Oak Mountain Academy.

Meanwhile, Flint River Academy lost to St. George's on the road by a 59-41 margin on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with St. George's recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

LaGrange Academy will need to focus on slowing down D. J. Baums, one of several Flint River Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Baums is becoming a predictor of Flint River Academy's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 10-5 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mason Jones, who posted 16 points.

Even though they lost, Flint River Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 31 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

LaGrange Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. As for Flint River Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
