Softball Recap: Pocahontas County Takes a Loss

Pocahontas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bath County Chargers. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chargers earlier this season, when they won 14-13.

Cadence Kerr spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Addison Hamrick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Hamrick is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Miley Moyers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Pocahontas County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Bath County, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

As of now, neither Pocahontas County nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
