Recap: Stockdale Mustangs vs. Centennial Golden Hawks
The Stockdale Mustangs lost against the Centennial Golden Hawks on January 10th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Stockdale fell 54-46 to Centennial. While losing is never fun, Stockdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Centennial is ranked 121st).
Rippen Gill was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Centennial. Gill has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Gutierrez, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Stockdale's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Stockdale will take on Liberty on Wednesday. As for Centennial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
