Football Recap: Mancos' Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mancos). Everything went their way against the Vail Christian Saints on Saturday as they made off with a 60-38 win. The game was close at halftime, but the Bluejays turned on the heat in the second half with 40 points.

Mancos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Resner, who rushed for 166 yards and six TDs, and also threw for 112 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. With that strong performance, Resner is now averaging an impressive 109.2 rushing yards per game. Jonah H Ritter also helped out as he racked up 165 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mancos was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 353 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Mancos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Resner and Joshua Peterson. Peterson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played.

The victory (which was Mancos' fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points over those games. As for Vail Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mancos will challenge Sanford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 892 yards in their previous games. As for Vail Christian, they will face off against West Grand at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so the Saints' offense will have their work cut out for them.
