Basketball Game Preview: East Poinsett County Warriors vs. Bay Yellowjackets

The East Poinsett County Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Bay Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Poinsett County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Wednesday, East Poinsett County didn't have too much trouble with Cross County as they won 76-61. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Poinsett County relied on the efforts of Tyrus Reel, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, and Jacob Gaines, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Reel is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Perry, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

East Poinsett County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Bay strolled past Corning with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 62-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Bay has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for East Poinsett County, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

East Poinsett County beat Bay 52-40 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Poinsett County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
