Baseball Game Preview: St. Pauls Bulldogs vs. Clinton Dark Horses

The St. Pauls Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Clinton Dark Horses at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games St. Pauls has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Thursday, St. Pauls didn't have quite enough to beat Fairmont and fell 5-3.

Meanwhile, Clinton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Wildcats. With that victory, the Dark Horses brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Tyler Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Hall was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Slater, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Henry Bass was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Clinton pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Pauls, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

St. Pauls might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Clinton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
