Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Afton's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Afton won the last time they faced South Coffeyville, and Aiden Victor did his part to make sure it happened again. The Afton Eagles claimed a resounding 68-36 win over the South Coffeyville Lions thanks in part to Victor, who went 10 of 14 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points and four steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Afton's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Barton, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points and four steals. Those four steals gave him a new career-high.

Afton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for South Coffeyville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Afton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-40 victory against Cave Springs on the 24th. South Coffeyville has also already played their next contest (against Wesleyan Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
