Baseball Recap: Alameda Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Alameda dropped their record down to 19-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elizabeth Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 21-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2018.

Alameda saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Romero, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Elizabeth, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Elizabeth's side, Brody Aldridge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Aldridge has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tristan O'Neal and Cade Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: O'Neal went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Taylor went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Taylor has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Waymire, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Alameda does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elizabeth, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-0 victory against Strasburg on the 12th.
