Basketball Recap: Kezia Rayon and Abby Dominguez Secure Win for Immanuel Christian

There's no place like home for Immanuel Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They skirted past the Jesus Chapel Chargers 40-38. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 40-32 last Tuesday.

Immanuel Christian was led to victory by Abby Dominguez and Kezia Rayon. Dominguez posted four points along with 14 boards and seven steals, while Rayon scored 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Dominguez a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Valeria Escobar, who earned three points and six boards.

Immanuel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Immanuel Christian's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-10. As for Jesus Chapel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Immanuel Christian and Jesus Chapel's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Immanuel Christian and Patterson Institute (who has only given up 29 points per game) will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jesus Chapel will face off against El Paso HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, a team that's only allowed 22.13 points per game.
