League recap: St. Johns extends winning streak with victory over Valley

St. Johns extended the longest winning streak in V Section I this week by beating Valley, 65-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Red Rock made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,332 from 11,702. The improvement came about via a 28-6 victory over Pinon last week.

Williams's dynamic duo of Jeff Brownlee and Kristian Holmes proved tough for Tuba City to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brownlee threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns and Holmes had 64 yards receiving. Oscar Nunez helped Williams' passing attack out by catching four balls for 59 yards.

Blake Sekaquaptewa was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 38 carries, he ran for 248 yards as Hopi topped the Warriors. Teammate Clayton Howard added to the ground attack by rushing for 35 yards.

6-foot-4 quarterback Brownlee of Williams is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1426. He has also thrown 16 touchdowns. On the ground, the Bruins' Sekaquaptewa has rushed for 1215 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Sekaquaptewa. The Hopi star has 35 catches for 598 yards.

St. Johns led V Section I in scoring this week after putting up 65 points on the Pirates.
