Recap: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. Harlingen Cardinals

After a string of four wins, the Los Fresnos Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Harlingen by a score of 80-78. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (74), Los Fresnos still had to take the loss.

Los Fresnos' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jj Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Salazar has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Galvan, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.

Harlingen can attribute much of their success to Andrew Galdamez, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galdamez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luis Rodriguez, who scored 13 points.

Los Fresnos' defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Harlingen, the victory was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-3.

Los Fresnos will head out on the road to square off against Rivera at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harlingen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
